Kerala's Father Robin Vadakkumchery, has been arrested for raping, impregnating and threatening a minor girl. The 16 year old girl gave birth to a baby at a private hospital last month. The Vicar has been booked under POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act and  IPC Section 376.

Acting on an anonymous tip-off, the childline authorities and police officials swung into swift action before the father could fly to Canada to evade arrest. Fr Robin Vadakkumchery is a vicar of St Sebastian’s Church. The 16 year old minor girl belonged to the dalit community and was a 11th grade student @ IJM Higher.

Father Robin(Aged 49) is the vicar of St Sebastian Church in Kottiyoor. He managed to shift the victim & her baby to a remote village in Wayanad and hush up the entire incident. The influential Pastor even threatened the girl parent’s with dire consequences and tried to implicate her father in a false criminal case.

Vicar Robin had been repeatedly raping the minor victim in the computer class provided by the church for over 2 years. The girl belonged to an economically backward family and feared public outrage. Thus they were forced to suffer silently and feared the influential vicar.

The girl gave birth to a child 3 weeks ago. The new born baby was handed over secretly to a private orphanage called Vythri in Wayanad district.

Vicar Robin used to project himself as a great Children’s Rights Activist and has been openly pledging support for Initiatives against Sexual Assault and Molestation of Children. Recently, he claimed to have busted a sex racket.
Police said a DNA test will be held on the priest to ascertain to strengthen the case against him. Police have also booked the private hospital, where she delivered a baby, for not informing police. Initially the girl blamed her own father. But further questioning by women constables led to her confession that it was actually Father Robin who raped her and not her father. Despite being pregnant, she used to attend school and dressed up in a manner that would raise nobody’s suspicion.
According to sources, Vicar Robin has very powerful contacts in the State Ministry and had several judges visiting his church

Police Officials confirmed that the both the accused and the complainant will undergo a mandatory DNA test and even the girl’s parents will be questioned. The newborn baby has been shifted to a government run home near Peravoor. Inspector Sunil Kumar, who is investigating the case said that the case will be heard at a fast track court dedicated to sexual assault on minors. Data from National Crime Records Bureau( NCRB) reveals that out of odd 15000 victims of child sexual abuse in 2015, over 8300 of them knew the accused personally.
